Hey there!
First off, I’m so glad you’re here. Equalitees isn’t just a clothing brand—it’s a way to stand up, stand together, and show the world what you believe in. It’s about community, about being loud and unapologetic in support of what’s right.
So, why did I start this? Because in the face of hatred, oppression, and all the hurt and fear women and marginalized communities deal with, I couldn’t not do something. I was taught to love everyone. I See Color. I Respect Culture. I Foster Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion. I Learn History. At Equalitees, we are unapologetically Pro-Women, Pro-Trans, Pro-Queer, Pro-Native, Pro-Black, & Pro-Immigrant. We are Anti-Fascist, Anti-Racist, & Anti-Bully.
There is strength in unity, and we see the need for everyone who feels the same way we do to come together to fight the injustices happening in the world. Our designs are great for holidays, month-long celebrations and awareness campaigns, and wearing your heart on your sleeves. As our business grows we will be donating portions of our profits to charities and organizations who help marginalized communities. Check out more on our Resources & Support Page.
A little back story-I grew up really religious in a small town. I knew I was gay from a young age but I was scared of what it meant, worried people would find out and hate me. My story is the same as thousands of other queer kids who grow up in less than accepting environments.
As years passed, I lost my faith but I kept going to church for the music, and for the advice of a very accepting, loving and understanding priest who always welcomed strangers with a smile, and always felt like someone I could talk to. He ended his sermons every Sunday by saying "KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED. REMEMBER THAT. KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED." He'd repeat it a couple times into the microphone. No matter what I was dealing with, I'd keep in mind that things would get better, and that I Am Loved. It's what helped get me through when I was really struggling growing up.
Fast forward--A couple of summers ago, a drag story hour was being hosted at our local library by Project Rainbow. As expected, the haters went crazy on social media before the event and had a lot of angry things to say. I was worried about those who were going to show up to protest, making it harder for families and kids to just enjoy a fun event. I knew I wanted to help drown out the negativity somehow, so I painted a 7x30 banner with rainbow colors and wrote “KNOW THAT YOU ARE LOVED” in bold lettering across it. The banner was used as a shield, blocking out the protesters and replacing their ugliness with something good.
People loved it, and it made a difference. Their collective reaction inspired me. The banner has since been used in Pride parades and other events to spread its message. That’s the whole point of Equalitees. It’s not just about cool designs or selling shirts—it’s about making a statement, showing up for marginalized communities, and making sure no one feels alone. It’s about standing up against discrimination and hate, no matter what form they take. If someone sees what you're wearing and it makes them feel better about themselves, or lets them know they're not alone, then we've done our job.
So whether you’re here to find something that speaks to you, support a cause, or just check things out—welcome. You belong here. And I’m so thankful you stopped by.
Now, Let’s Make Some Good Trouble.
